First, I'm finally all caught up on this author's books! I have officially read every last one of them.Anyhow.... This book. I really didn't know what to expect with this one, as most books. I already had a first impression of her from the first book in the series. And it wasn't a positive one. I wasn't sure how her character would be able to change my mind. She was so self-absorbed and selfish. It's not easy to show a different side of a character that vapid.However, the author did a great job at keeping with her previous impression and slowly transforming her into a whole new, likable character. The author showed how much she relied on her money for things, and then learning how to be more self reliant and down to earth. It was a slow transformation, especially after she was able to see herself through others' eyes.Dakota was a perfect match for her. He challenged her, while bringing his own baggage to the table. I think with each of them dealing with each other's baggage and their own at the same time taught them both so much about themselves and others. They were able to teach each other that perception isn't always so transparent.I really enjoyed this book. I had some giggles and almost teary-eyed moments in this one. It was a sweet ending, so to speak, to this series. I'm almost sad to not have more to read. ”I was bewitched. Addicted after only days. In another life, I’d do more than chase her around. I’d catch her.”I honestly don’t even know where to start with this one. Normally my reviews for this author and her work flow out of me so naturally it’s not even funny. But here’s the thing about Tinsel: everything about this book was far from easy. The characters, their worlds, their individual insecurities and doubts were so far from flawless or easy. And f***, it reminded me so much of myself. That’s what this author does. Perry takes a story and breaks it down to the point of astounding agony beyond belief but if you know her work, while reading it may be harder to catch your breath but you know to keep that sliver of hope alive for these characters.Devney Perry has a way of re-lighting that flame of hope. The hope you as a reader forgot you had. Every. Time. And Tinsel was the one book of hers that will have you BAWLING due to making you realize that that little black box inside of you will shine again.Y’all I can’t. Tinsel was SO beautifully written that it takes you on the adventure of your life with these characters. Their struggles are your struggles and their gasps for relief are your own breaths. You empathize so much with them. You HURT, HEAL, and THRIVE with them because how can you not?Tinsel can’t be categorized as your normal contemporary romance. No it’s the contemporary romance that is riveting as it is heart wrenching, and just as beautiful as it is ugly, raw, and gritty. It’s the BEST kind of contemporary romance.
